Based on William Shakespeare's historical chronicle "Richard III"
The story of our Richard begins from the moment the story of Shakespeare's Richard ends. The viewer is given the freedom to decide for himself where and when the action takes place: whether on the last night before death, or perhaps somewhere else, where there is eternal punishment for committed crimes and eternal doom to absurd massacre, from which one can go crazy even in the afterlife. This is a kind of warning to murderers, politicians and overly stubborn materialists. While preserving the main ideas and maxims of “Richard III”, we worked not with the plot, but with the metaplot of Shakespeare's work. Therefore, it does not matter who embodies the theme of the protagonist - a man or a woman. The problem of Richard or Hamlet concerns everyone, regardless of gender.

"Theatre in a Basket" was created in 1997 by director Iryna Volytska and actress Lydia Danylchuk as an independent, non-commercial creative association, which existed for 7 years on its own enthusiasm without any state support. Since 2004, it has become a creative workshop of the Les Kurbas National Center for Theater Arts.
The creative workshop "Theatre in a Basket" arose from the need for spiritual, cultural, national self-identification at the junction of modernist and postmodernist aesthetic principles. This is a kind of unique theater that occupies an elite niche in the cultural space of Ukraine.
The creative workshop conducts research in the field of theatrical sign, symbol, metaphor, building its own, original means of stage expressiveness and expression.
